Looking for Women who want to be Empowered!

I believe that the elements of greatness are in all of us. Some of you just haven’t discovered it yet! 2009 is a year for change, I am looking for some women that I can empower!  Could you be one of them?

Here are some of the things that I am looking for:

  1. I am looking for busy women. I have found that busy women get the most done. In today’s economy is is not uncommon to find women who work more than one job and/or business while raising a family. Busy women typically are good time managers, and prioritize well.
  2. I look for women who don’t already have a huge network of friends and family. That gives them a false sense of security in building a home business because friends and family are NOT usually the best customers. I will teach you how to grow your business using those who you haven’t met yet!
  3. I am looking for women who don’t consider themselves the sales type. Learning to sell is a skill that I have been very successful in transferring to others! If you associate a sales person with someone who is pushy, that is not what I look for. Pushy people have difficulty building customers and relationships.
  4. I am looking for women who can use some extra income to make ends meet. Although most women are not motivated by money, having the need for extra money will keep you going when times are difficult.
  5. I look for women who are family oriented. I have found that women will do so much more for their family than they ever would for themselves. (that is their WHY)
  6. I look for women who are decision makers. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Implementation is vital for success, not paralysis by analysis!

If you feel that you have at least 4 of these qualities, I would love to work with you. Maybe you are still looking for additional streams of income and haven’t decided on a direct sales company. I would love to talk to you and help you decide if my business is one that I can share with you.

I found this fascinating quote today:

Ever hear someone say, “I’m in a funk”?  I think we all get the idea of what that means when we hear it.  Basically that something isn’t quite right; nothing seems to be going well; in a slump, right? Is Your Direct Sales Biz in a Funk?, Feb 2009

Give the People What They Want!

So many times I hear from direct sales consultants that they “feel bad for hitting up family and friends” or find it difficult to sell their products to people based on the “canned scripts” they may have been taught. I say, STOP TRYING TO SELL PEOPLE THINGS THEY DON’T WANT OR NEED! Value Selling and Solution Selling are proven, successful, sales techniques in the B2B market. I use these same techniques in my direct sales business and they should work in any sales situation. The main idea is to understand what value you and/or your products have to offer your customers along with what needs you can meet or issues you can address. Once you know the value of your product you will be in a better position to sell customers what they actually want to buy. With the economy the way it is, there is greater competition for dollars. People know value and they use value to justify their spending. If you don’t build value before you tell them how much it’s going to cost, you’re done.

So you took the first step, you know your products well and you have thought about the value you can provide. Now you need to understand your customers and what they need or what issues they would like to address. The key to gaining this information is to LISTEN to your customer and WATCH their reaction to the value propositions you are giving them. Many sales people fail because they are the sterotypical “pushy salesperson” who gives the same pitch and pushes the full product line to everybody they come across. If you want to build loyal customers who like to buy from you, you need to focus on selling them the products they want at the time they want to buy it.

Let’s use Mary Kay as an example. You have a new customer, young college student, great skin, doesn’t wear a lot of makeup. Sure you could try to sell her the entire Timewise Ultimate Miracle Set or Roll-Up Bag but seriously, do you think she is really going to be interested in an anti-aging microdermabrasion set? Instead try a different approach, rather than jumping into your product pitch ask her some questions. You find out she is very busy, doesn’t like to wear a lot of makeup, spends time at the gym each day and doesn’t have a lot of income. Now you can talk to her about maybe a Timewise basic set with a tinted moisturizer, some mascara and lip gloss to get her out the door each day. She isn’t overwhelmed by the amount of product and price and now you are both on the same page regarding her needs. You can ask about any big events that may be coming up and take the opportunity to book her for a color consultation to help glam her up to help get her ready for the event. Now she has a product set she loves inher price range and more importantly she sees you as a partner and you have built up her trust. Now you have great potential for getting referrals, she had a good experience, she would work with you again, so she will feel more comfortable referring her friends.

So in a nutshell:
1. Know your products

2. Build your value proposition

3. LISTEN and WATCH your customers for what they respond positively to

4. Sell your customers the products they actually want to buy

5. Enjoy your increased sales!

Why I chose Mary Kay

I get asked the question, “Why did you choose Mary Kay?” a lot and I must say it took me awhile to decide that being a Mary Kay Lady was something that I really wanted to do.  I did a lot of research on the company and had many discussions with a friend who is a successful Mary Kay consultant before making my decision.  I stumbled across this article when I was trying to decide if being a WAHM was even a path I wanted to take and it helped me to focus my research.  If you are considerin starting your own business, give this article a quick read.

Choosing the right Work At Home Business!
by karl glantschnig

When you are considering working from home, there is a set of decisions that must be made. First, you must decide whether or not working at home is right for you. Next, you need to consider what type of work at home job you will be doing. There are many opportunities for Wahms out there, both offline and off. Having a successful Wahm career starts with evaluating your own skills and requirements in a job and then finding the right match.

Sometimes the best place to start with your Wahm career is where your out of the home career ended. Many women find that they can become independent contractors in the field that they previously worked in. You can use your previous work experience as a launching pad for your Wahm career. Some of the ways to use your experience to your advantage are: finding a company that hires people in your field to work from home, using your previous experience to become an expert writer in your field or starting a business related to your previous field.

However, some women look at their Wahm careers as a way to break out of their old job. If you do like to try something completely different, there are plenty of opportunities for entry-level work as an independent contractor. Many of these jobs deal with telephone or online customer service. When you work as a customer service agent from your home, you just need a reliable Internet connection and a working phone. Companies also hire medical transcriptionists, data entry professionals and virtual personal assistants to telecommute.

If you want to start your own business, the opportunities are very vast. You can start with a direct sales company and sell products from an established brand to friends and neighbors. You will make commissions through your sales and also off of recruiting other people to sell the products. There are hundreds of direct sales companies that offer everything from aromatherapy products to candles to cooking supplies.

Another option for starting your own business is offering a service in your community. Day care center operators, florists, professional organizers and hairdressers all have the option of working at home, among many other professions. Of course, starting a business in your community normally means that you have had some experience in that field. However, there are some small business ideas that can be started without much experience at all.

Many women turn to the Internet for a source of at home income. The World Wide Web offers a plethora of job opportunities. You can offer your services online as a freelance web designer, writer or virtual assistant. You can also start an online store that sells products that you make yourself or have the rights to resell. Many Wahms establish their businesses online by using one of the popular auction sites, like eBay. Still others find a home in internet marketing, by directing web traffic to a website and then recommending certain products and services.

Decide first what type of job you do like to do and then work from there. If you are truly a people person and need to get out each day, direct sales or a local service business might be right for you. If you are the type of mom who lives online and is comfortable with the Internet, try finding a job or starting your own business on the web. If you like the comfort of having a weekly paycheck, look into telecommuting positions.

Once you have decided what category of job you do like, do some research on what it takes to be successful at that type of business. If you feel like you are drawn to one particular business or company, then sit on your decision for a week and see how it feels. Imagine what your life will be like as you take on the duties of that job. Most importantly, be realistic with yourself about how much time you can devote to your business. Finding the right match is not hard when you thoroughly consider your options.
